More cities are set to join the protests in the coming days.

Kouhyar Goudarzi was arrested by Iranian regime agents on July 31st and subjected to an enforced disappearance, according to official human rights reports. The Iranian authorities have remained silent on Kouhyar Goudarzi’s location of confinement or condition for almost three months, despite unofficial sources that indicate the human rights activist is held in solitary confinement in Evin prison.

Kouhyar Goudarzi’s mother Parvin Mokhtare, who spoke openly last year about her son’s earlier imprisonment, was arrested on August 1st. She is currently held in Kerman prison. According to the Committee of Human Rights Reporters (CHRR), the organization that Kouhyar Goudarzi is a member of, Parvin Mokhtare has no history of activism. It appears like her only crime has been being expressing concern for her son’s well being.

Since the illegal arrests, various international human rights organizations, including Human Rights WatchAmnesty International,Reporters Without Borders, and Front Line have issued statements to request answers on the illegal actions taken by the Iranian authorities against Kouhyar Goudarzi.
